Parables of Jesus

The word “Parable” is derived from the Greek word “parabole” meaning a likeness or comparison. A parable uses something familiar and compares it to something not so familiar. Jesus used parables to teach important and timeless lessons to help  illustrate the Kingdom of God. Stories make things easier to remember and process.

Psalms 78:1-2
Hear my teaching, my people.
Turn your ears to the words of my mouth.
I will open my mouth in a parable.

Matthew 13:34-35 (WEB)

Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the multitudes; and without a parable,

he didn’t speak to them,  that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet,

saying, “I will open my mouth in parables;  I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world.”
